The Gift of Salvation

Whether visiting a church on a certain holiday or other occasion, you've most likely heard the phrase "the gift of salvation".  If you've spent any amount of time around a Christian relative or friend, you've probably heard the phrase "the gift of salvation".  Have you ever wondered why the word "gift" is often used when speaking of salvation?  Well, it's really easy to understand.  A gift is something that is given to us free of any charges or requirements by someone who cares and most often loves us.  In much the same way, salvation is given to us free of any charges or requirements, but by God who loves us (John 3:16 KJV).  In other words, it is not necessary and actually impossible for any of us to pay or work for (earn) salvation--we only need to accept it to receive it.

How do we accept this free gift from God?  We were born into sin due to the disobedience of Adam and Eve.  All born after their disobedience are born into sin.  By accepting the completed work of Jesus who died on the cross for our sins, we are able to receive salvation once we ask Him to come into our hearts by faith.

Romans 10:9 KJV states "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved."

If you're ready to accept the free gift of salvation by accepting Jesus into your heart, please pray this prayer or use it as a guide--

Lord Jesus, I admit I am a sinner in need of your grace and mercy but most of all YOU in my life and my heart.  I believe you are the Son of God. I believe you died on the cross for all of my sins, transgressions, iniquities and wrongdoings. I believe you were raised from the dead. I ask you to come into my heart and make me whole. Save me as only you can.  Save me from this world, save me from myself and save me for all eternity.  I do not belong to the enemy any longer and will live out the remainder of my days upon this earth serving you as my personal Lord and Savior. AMEN

If you prayed this prayer or one similar, we are absolutely rejoicing with you and know heaven is as well.  Tell someone about the decision you have made today.  Afterall, the gift of salvation keeps on giving as you share your testimony and start your Christian journey.  If our church family can assist you in any way, please reach out to us.  We would love to hear from you!

We encourage you to find a bible-teaching church where you can attend regularly, begin developing your relationship with Jesus and growing in your walk with the Lord.  You are always welcome at Contending For The Faith.  May God forever bless you!
